The Universal Industry 4.0 Training Factory

The state-of-the-art Cyber-Physical Manufacturing Laboratory at College of Engineering reflects the new developments of the networked production of industrial 4.0 and provides a “Smart Factory” kit for training and research. The training system does not only include assembly lines but also other areas such as manufacturing processes (additive, subtractive, laser), collaborative and mobile robotic operations, automated logistics, and quality assurance. The lab supports Industry 4.0 education and research by offering:

 

  • Information on Industry 4.0 relevant to the training topic in question

  • Key technologies such as RFID, IoT, augmented reality, and cloud computing

  • A full-fledge Cyber-Physical System (CPS)

  • Advanced IT system (SAP ME) and CP Factory Cloud

  • Versatility demonstrated by the autonomous material handling robot, Robotino®

  • Flexible robot cells with cameras to industry standard

  • Solid introduction to reliable machine networking (OPC UA)

  • Manufacturing Execution System for Industry 4.0 (MES4) supporting production control, open databases, and transparent interfaces

  • Factory simulation with CIROS® and virtual reality
